Tehri Garhwal looked to have numerous spiritual implications from Hindu mythology and tales. At Devprayag, when the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda meet, the Ganga becomes the Ganga. Many temples are also scattered around.
Tehri Garhwal's name comes from "Triharia," which means a location where Mansa, Vacha, and Kamana (thinking, speech, and deed) sins can be cleansed. One of Uttarakhand's only planned cities is New Tehri, the district capital. At 1550–1950 m above sea level, it overlooks the huge lake and its spectacular dam, the area's main attraction. Underwater, Old Tehri is a ghost town. It's memorable to visit this site.
